The international break is over and, unfortunately, Villa did not come out of it unscathed as Mile Jedinak and Jack Grealish both picked up injuries which could keep them out of Sunday’s match against Nottingham Forest.
Jedinak picked up a knock whilst playing for Australia against Iraq and he subsequently had to sit out of their next match against the UAE. Grealish, on the other hand, picked up a knee injury whilst on duty for England U21s. Rudy Gestede, Aaron Tshibola and Aly Cissokho are the other doubts for the game.
Villa have had a pretty inconsistent start to the season with one win, two draws and two losses. They have been playing well in patches but have not been clinical enough with their finishing. However, for the most part, they have been somewhat solid at the back and have only conceded five goals. Three of these goals came in their only completely poor defensive performance against Bristol before the international break. This means that in their previous four games they only conceded two goals.
Forest, on the other hand, has found the back of the net on eleven occasions. However, their defence has leaked eleven goals in five matches. Therefore, I expect there to be plenty of goals in this one.
In this slideshow, I have selected the XI players that I believe will start against Forest at Villa Park on Sunday evening.
