After Saturday’s very lucky draw against Wolves, Steve Bruce will have realised that there is a lot of work that needs to be done with his Aston Villa team.
The players are clearly lacking in both confidence and fitness and Bruce needs to change this quickly if Villa are to get anywhere close to challenging for promotion this season.
I have no doubt that Bruce will be able to work his magic on this Villa side; however, he will need some time to do so, and time in this league, as every Championship fan knows, is not something that you get a lot of. We can only hope that we start seeing improvements sooner rather than later.
This lack of time is emphasised by the fact that there is another round of matches this Tuesday and Wednesday.
Bruce will take his side to the Madejski Stadium to face Reading on Tuesday evening. Tommy Elphick and Micah Richards both suffered hamstring injuries against Wolves and, therefore, they will not be fit to play.
Reading are having a very decent season so far with five wins, four draws and three losses and, as a result, they are eight points above Villa and are only one point off of a play-off place
There is no doubt that this will be yet another tricky game for Villa.
Here is my predicted Villa XI for this match:
