Steve Bruce’s unbeaten run continued with Aston Villa’s 3-1 win over Cardiff City last weekend, meaning that they have now collected 15 points from the last 21 available to them (four wins and three draws). This great form has seen the Villans rise to 11th in the table, just four points off of a play-off position.
Next up for Villa is an away game against Leeds United on Saturday evening. Leeds , just like Villa, have been on a bit of a roll lately having won four of their last five league games – the only loss being a 2-0 defeat to league leaders Newcastle United. As a result, they now sit 5th in the table with 29 points from their first 18 games.
There is no doubt that this will be quite a tricky tie for Villa, but it is one that they really need to be getting a positive result from in order to stay within touching distance of the play-offs.
