Steve Bruce’s run of seven games without defeat as Aston Villa manager came to an abrupt and sudden halt on Saturday evening thanks to a 2-0 loss against Leeds United at Elland Road.
In truth, it was probably the worst performance that we have seen since Bruce took over from Roberto Di Matteo a little under two months ago. They were sloppy from the first minute right up until the last and deserved not to get anything from the game.
Anyway, that game is now water under the bridge and next up for Villa is a home game against Wigan on Saturday afternoon. Wigan have been struggling most of the season and, as a result, they currently sit second from bottom with 18 points from a possible 57. From their last five games they collected 7 points with 2 wins, a draw and 2 losses.
Villa, who have yet to lose at home this season, will be expecting to win this one quite comfortably.
Without further ado, here is our predicted XI for the match. We reckon that Bruce will revert to a 4-5-1 formation.
