The last time Villa won a league match in front of Sky TV cameras was over two years ago against Leicester City. Villa have had an annoying habit of failing to show up when the cameras are on them, but they ended this Sky TV jinx with a 1-0 win over Queens Park Rangers at Loftus Road on Sunday afternoon.
Prior to this game, their Sky TV record this season was: played 10, won 0, drawn 6 and lost 4. Bruce’s side will undoubtedly have plenty more TV dates this season, so here’s hoping that this is just not a one off and that they can build on this momentum.
In truth, this was a pretty scrappy affair, but Villa fans will not care one bit as this is another three vital points towards Villa’s promotion chase. As it stands, over Christmas, Villa will be 13th in the table, 6 points behind the the final play-off position.
This is not where Villa fans would have expected their team to be at Christmas at the start of the season, but it is not that bad a position to be in considering how far behind the pack Villa were when Bruce took over a few months ago.
