# Inter Milan eye move for Aston Villa star

Inter Milan are looking for a backup goalkeeper to sit behind Samir Handanovic in the pecking order and according to [reports in Italy](https://www.tuttomercatoweb.com/serie-a/inter-si-lavora-per-gollini-dell-aston-villa-915760), they’ve identified Aston Villa’s Pierluigi Gollini as a possible option.

The 21-year-old only moved to Villa in the summer transfer window but if these reports are accurate, he could be about to be offered the chance to make a return to his homeland.

Aston Villa look set to sign Sam Johnstone on loan from Manchester United in January and there’s a chance that he is coming in to play as it seems odd for United to loan him out if he’s not going to play.

However, Steve Bruce has admitted that he feels his squad lacks depth in the goalkeeper position so it’d make little sense for him to let Gollini go anywhere, even if he decides to drop him.

According to the report, Inter will want to do a loan deal for Gollini with an option to buy in the summer, which again would make little sense from Villa’s perspective.
