# Player Ratings: Burton Albion (H)

Villa secured a hard fought 2-1 win over Burton Albion to maintain their unbeaten home record this season (6 wins and 5 draws), and win 5 home games in a row for the first time since 1992. Furthermore, this valuable win moved them to just 3 points off of the final play-off place; however, Sheffield Wednesday’s 1-0 win over [Newcastle United](https://readnewcastle.com/)  in the evening kick-off means that this gap has now returned to 6 points.

This was a much more difficult game for Villa than most Villa fans would have expected and, if truth be told, Burton probably deserved at least a point from the match. However, as has happened on a number of occasions this season under Bruce, Villa’s big-money signings have showed up when they were needed most; last week against QPR it was Kodjia, this week it was McCormack. It wasn’t a performance that the Villa faithful would have enjoyed watching, but, at the end of the day, continuing to pick up three points is all that matters.
