# Bruce Wants At Least Three More Players This January

According to [The Mirror](https://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/football/transfer-news/aston-villa-ready-spend-big-9564188), Steve Bruce will be given £25 million (plus whatever is generated from sold players) to spend on transfers this January and he wants to bring in some more signings after having just landed Sam Johnstone on-loan earlier today from [Manchester United.](https://readmanutd.com/)

Johnstone, who was signed to give Gollini and Bunn some competition, became Bruce’s first signing as Villa manager. With Villa sitting 7 points off of a play-off position, Bruce wants to strengthen his squad and it seems like he now has his eyes set on at least three more players – a right back, a left winger and another striker.

Bruce desperately needs a right back because, at the moment, due to injuries to De Laet and Richards, he really only has Hutton available in that position. Bacuna can cover at right back, but it isn’t his natural position.

Regarding the left of midfield, Grealish and Ayew have featured there so far this season, but Bruce might want a more natural fit – Robbie Brady, who Bruce managed at Hull, has been linked with a move to the club.

Finally, in attack, with Gestede having left for [Middlesbrough](https://readmiddlesbrough.com/) earlier this week, and Kodjia and Ayew absent for the next 3-4 weeks, Bruce may feel that he needs another striker at the club.

One position that wasn’t mentioned was central midfield, which was surprising considering how light Villa are in that position. However, if the reports are to be believed, it seems like Bruce also wants to add a Center-midfielder to his squad this window. Villa recently put in a £3 million pound bid for Nottingham Forest’s Henri Lansbury and, if the early rumours are to be believed, he could be joining Villa very shortly.
