Aston Villa’s hopes of a play-off position disappeared further into the distance thanks to a very disappointing 1-0 loss away to Wolves on Saturday evening.
In truth, it was a game that Villa deserved to get nothing out of as the majority of the team were pretty terrible from kick-off right up until the final whistle – only one or two can come away with any sort of credit.
As a result of this loss, Villa now sit a considerable 10 points behind Sheffield Wednesday – who occupy the 4th and final play-off position. Villa were blunt in attack (that’s putting it very politely indeed) and with Kodjia not due to return until at least the 28th January (that’s if the Ivory Coast fail to make it out their group; which is highly unlikely), it is very hard to see where the next goal is going to come from in the next few games. By the time we get our talismanic striker back, Villa’s hopes of a play-off could be dead and buried.
Let’s hope we get some good transfer news in the coming few days to brighten out moods a bit. Anyway, here are our player ratings for today’s game.
