Aston Villa have started off the New Year with two League losses in a row and, as a result, they now find themselves 10 points behind the 4th and final play-off place. If they’re not careful, the chance of promotion could disappear over the horizon by the end of the month.
Villa have only made one signing so far in this window and, it is fair to say that with each poor performance and subsequent loss, the Villa faithful are getting more and more restless. With Kodjia away at the AFCON until quite possibly early February and with the midfield severely lacking in creativity, it’s hard to see where the goals are going to come from in the next few games (unless Villa make some quick signings of course).
Next up for Villa is a home game against Preston on Saturday afternoon. Preston sit 4 places and 4 points above Villa, and if they were to win on Saturday (coupled with other results going against Villa), a vast percentage of Villa fans might already resign themselves to another season in the Championship.
