# Villa Player Ratings: Brentford (A)

Villa’s new-look side got taught a footballing lesson by Brentford tonight at Griffin Park.

Villa started the game brightly and should have taken the lead after just 10 minutes when Lansbury played a glorious through ball to Kodjia, but the Ivory Coast international somehow failed to find the target.

From them on, it was all Brentford and they completely played Villa’s expensively assembled team off the park. In fact, anyone would have thought that it was Brentford who had spent big over the past two windows.

This was easily the worst performance that Villa fans have seen this season, but I guess that could be put down to the amount of new signings present in the side. It was, in effect, a whole new midfield. It will take time for the players to gel (yeah, I know…we said that when Di Matteo was in charge too) and when that happens the performances will surely get better. One thing is certain though; they cannot get any worse.

As a result of this loss, Villa now sit in 14th place, a whole 10 points behind the 6th and final play-off position. That chance at promotion is looking an awfully long way off.

Anyway, here are my player ratings for tonight’s game. They do not make for pretty reading!
