Aston Villa were comfortably beaten by Brentford on Tuesday night and, as a result, they now sit a hefty 10 points off of a play-off position.
There wasn’t a single positive to take out of Tuesday’s 3-0 defeat, but the players must try to forget about this game and put it behind them as quick as possible as they need to concentrate fully on picking up 3 much needed points this weekend.
The lack of cohesiveness on Tuesday can be put down to the fact that Bruce fielded a midfield that had never played together before. However, they had best gel quick, or their chances of earning a play-off place might soon disappear over the horizon – if they haven’t already.
Aston Villa travel to the City Ground on Saturday to face 19th placed Nottingham Forest in the evening kick-off. Forest, like Villa, have been inconsistent as of late, so this could easily turn out to be quite the error strewn game as both sides battle it out for a vital 3 points. However, the Villa fans won’t really care about the quality of the match this week as all that matters at the moment is that Villa start picking up vital points.
Anyway, here is our predicted XI to face Nottingham Forest. We are expecting three more debuts this weekend, and expect Bruce to use a 4-3-3 formation.
