# Jordan Veretout wants to join Saint Etienne permanently

Former Saint-Etienne player, now journalist, Jean-Michel Larque says that Jordan Veretout wants to remain at the Ligue 1 club when his loan deal ends.

Veretout was one of a number of players who left Villa on loan after they were relegated and similarly to Carlos Sanchez, he too wants to make his move permanent this summer.

Villa paid Nantes £7 million to sign the French U21 international in the summer of 2015 and he played 25 league games in the relegation season before being loaned back to his homeland.

Saint-Etienne do have an option to buy the player at the end of the season and all indications are that all parties are keen for the move to take place.

The 23-year-old has been a regular for Les Verts this season, playing in 26 games, scoring two goals and assisting a further three times.

Larque told SFR Sport’s 91e Minute (via [TalkSport](https://talksport.com/football/aston-villa-star-jordan-veretout-keen-stay-saint-etienne-reveals-club-legend-170208226953)) that the club want to keep him and that the player wants to make the move:

> There’s a good chance he’s going to be a Stephanois next season. We’re doing everything at Saint-Etienne to make him a Stephanois and he wants to stay at Saint-Etienne.
