Aston Villa finally got their first win of 2017 thanks to a hard fought 1-0 victory over Derby on Saturday afternoon at Villa Park.
The game, if we’re being perfectly honest, was a scrappy affair that won’t live long in the memory of both set of supporters. However, the Villa fans won’t care at all as it was a much needed 3 points. Had Villa lost the match, and other results had gone against them, they could have found themselves just 4 points about the dreaded Relegation Zone. As it is, they are now 8 points clear.
Villa have a chance to increase the gap further when they take on Bristol City on Tuesday evening. This game was meant to have been played a couple of weeks back, but had to be postponed due to Bristol having FA Cup commitments.
