# Villa will receive £2.4 million for midfielder this summer

Following relegation from the Premier League at the end of last season, Aston Villa decided to move on several of their less effective players.

One of these players was Colombian international Carlos Sanchez. The bullish defensive midfielder was sent out on loan to Fiorentina until the end of the season.

Whereas he struggled to make much of an impact at Villa Park, the same certainly cannot be said of his time in Florence. He has become a regular in Fiorentina’s first-team, and has even been moved into the defence.

As a result of his impressive performances, Fiorentina want to buy him permanently in the summer, and the [Birmingham Mail](https://www.birminghammail.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/aston-villa-news-digest-midfielder-12789835)are reporting that they will spend £2.4 million in order to keep him.

If Sanchez were to return to Villa Park at the end of the season, he would undoubtedly be of great benefit to Villa in the Championship. However, it now looks highly likely that he will not be returning to Birmingham. At least Villa will now have £2.4 million pounds to bring in some new talent this summer.
