# Bruce: this is what we need to do to reach the play-offs

According to the [Birmingham Mail](https://www.birminghammail.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/steve-bruce-hints-what-would-12826413), Bruce has stated that winning 7 out of their last 8 games might just propel them into one of the coveted play-off places.

Villa are currently 12th in the table, and after a poor run of form at the start of the year, they had genuine fears about relegation. However, 5 wins in their last 6 games has catapulted them well clear of the dreaded Relegation Zone.

A win against Norwich City on Saturday afternoon would leave Villa just three points behind the Canaries, who hold genuine play-off aspirations.

Asked whether it’s possible for Villa to achieve a play-off place, Bruce responded with:

> “It’s important we finish as strongly as we can. That does give everybody a helping hand. We are never going to give up, we will still keep trying. Can we win seven out of the eight? Who knows, we will try our best.”

Over the past decade, 73 points has been the average number of points needed to earn a play-off position. If Villa do win 7 of their remaining 8 matches, they will finish on that number of points. However, they currently find themselves 11 points behind Sheffield Wednesday.
