Villa player ratings: QPR (H)

Aston Villa made it 7 wins out of their last 8 matches thanks to a 1-0 victory over Queens Park Rangers on Tuesday evening at Villa Park.

Once again, Villa have their talismanic striker Jonathan Kodjia to thank for the three points as he rifled home a Leandro Bacuna pass with just 5 minutes on the clock. The rest of the match, if we’re being honest, was a pretty low-key affair, although Villa could have doubled their lead after the break, but Baker’s header was cleared off the line. Qpr had a couple of decent spells, but they failed to create any clear-cut chances, forcing Sam Johnstone into making one routine save the whole match.

Despite this win, Villa’s play-off chances have not increased as most the teams above them also won. In fact, before the match there was a 9 point gap between Villa and 6th place, and after the match that 9 point gap remains.

Villa know that, thanks to a horrific run of form at the start of the year, the play-offs are likely beyond them, but they will be looking to finish the season on an absolute high so that they have a lot of confidence going into next season.

Here are our Villa player ratings for today’s game.
