Aston Villa’s 4 game winning streak came to an end as they were held to a 1-1 draw by Burton Albion at the Pirelli Stadium.
Villa got off to the best start possible when talismanic striker Jonathan Kodjia, who had to replaced with around 35 minutes gone, hammered the ball into the net with just three minutes on the clock – making it 8 goals in the last 8 games for the Ivorian International. The rest of the match, if we’re being honest, won’t live long in the memory bank as in the remaining 87 minutes, we only saw 3 more shots on target – Burton scoring with their only one. In the end, a draw was probably a fair result.
This draw, coupled with Sheffield Wednesday’s win over Newcastle, has all but put paid to Villa’s slight hopes of reaching the 6th and final play-off place. With only 5 games left to play this season, it is virtually impossible for Villa to make up the 11 point gap that separates them from the play-offs.
Anyway, here are our player ratings for today’s match.
