# Is this the lifeline Gollini has been looking for?

According to the [Birmingham Mail](https://www.birminghammail.co.uk/sport/football/transfer-news/could-lifeline-aston-villas-pierluigi-12986718), Serie A side Atalanta could look to make Pierluigi Gollini’s loan move from Aston Villa permanent in the summer Transfer Window.

Gollini was brought to Villa Park last summer by Roberto Di Matteo, but he made a number of costly mistakes and, as a result, he was dropped from the side by Steve Bruce in December.

Bruce allowed the young Italian to link up with Atalanta in January on an 18-month loan deal, but he has only made 2 appearances, as he currently finds himself behind fellow loanee Ertrit Berisha in the pecking order.

However, according to [Calcio Mercato](https://www.calciomercato24.com/2017/05/04/atalanta-arrivato-cornelius-difficile-riscatto-berisha/), Atalanta are not too keen on making Berisha’s loan permanent, and the Albanian will return to Lazio at the end of the season.

Therefore, Gollini, who does not seem to have a future with Bruce’s Villa, could be in line to become La Dea’s number one next season.

Villa will be keen to regain as much of the £4 million they paid Hellas Verona for Gollini’s services as they can, and will put it towards finding a new keeper for next season.

Manchester United loanee Sam Johnstone is Bruce’s first choice, but with United facing the possibility of losing De Gea and Romero in the summer, it is unknown whether United will let the youngster leave.
