# Villa are closing in on Egyptian’s signature

A report in the [Birmingham Mail](https://www.birminghammail.co.uk/sport/football/transfer-news/aston-villa-transfers-elmohamady-closing-13292789) has stated that Aston Villa are closing in on signing Hull City winger Ahmed Elmohamady.

Villa boss Steve Bruce knows all there is to know about the Egyptian international as he signed him when he was manager of Hull City and Sunderland.

Elmohamady is keen on a reunion with Bruce, but Villa still need to agree a fee with Hull before they can complete the deal. It is understood that The Tigers are looking for around £3 million for the 29-year-old.

Bruce is keen on signing the Egyptian because he is capable of playing at right wing-back, and he is considering playing with a back three next season following John Terry’s arrival.

Villa are well stocked on the right side of the field with Hutton, De Laet, and Bree all after a starting berth, but this hasn’t put Bruce off of pursuing a player who he rates highly.
