# Villa to give young Hereford goalkeeper a trial this week

In an interview with the [Hereford times](https://www.herefordtimes.com/sport/15428194.FOOTBALL__Davies_leaves_Hereford__Horsell_injured__Harris_to_train_with_Aston_Villa/), Hereford manager Peter Beadle has confirmed that goalkeeper Max Harris will have a trial with Aston Villa this week.

During the summer transfer window, Bruce has prioritised signing experienced Premier League veterans, with Glenn Whelan, John Terry, and Ahmed Elmohamady all having signed for the Birmingham-based club.

Sam Johnstone, who is 24-years old, is the youngest player Villa have signed this summer – he joined on a season-long loan from Manchester United this month.

Despite having the likes of Jed Steer, Mark Bunn, and Matija Sarkic also available to him, Bruce seems keen for another goalkeeper to join the ranks, and Harris is clearly one for the future.

The 17-year-old has come through the ranks at Hereford, and while he is currently pushing to make some sort of name for himself at Edgar Street, he might soon find himself at Villa Park.
