# Villa defender Nathan Baker set to join Bristol City

Aston Villa defender Nathan Baker is set to join fellow Championship side Bristol City and is currently undergoing a medical according to football reporter [Andy Stockhausen](https://twitter.com/AndyStockhausen/status/890843521019719680).

The 26-year-old defender was a regular for Villa last season as he made 34 appearances but manager Steve Bruce has significantly strengthened his centre-back department, which has led Baker to seek a move.

The move is a brave one from Baker as he has realised that he won’t be getting much game time in the upcoming season and he is at a critical stage of his career where he needs to play.

The move is also a good one for Aston Villa, as they will reduce a player from their squad and also receive a decent sum of money for him.

The fee for Baker has not yet been confirmed as the two clubs still negotiate on an acceptable price for the defender.
