Villa suffered their first defeat in nine Championship games as they were beaten 2-0 by local rivals Wolves at Molineux.
The home side dominated the first-half, but they could not find a breakthrough. However, they got what they deserved in the 55th minute when Diogo Jota managed to hold off three Villa defenders before firing home from inside the area. Wolves put the game to bed 16 minutes later when Leo Bonatini fired home from a tight angle in the 71st minute.
Things could have gotten worse for Villa, but Sam Johnstone pulled off a couple of fantastic saves late on to prevent the two Wolves goalscorers.
Villa lacked ideas up front the whole game, and the closest that they came to scoring was when Robert Snodgrass struck the bar with a free-kick with just minutes remaining.
The away side were second best for much of the game and, if truth be told, Wolves would have been hard done by if Villa managed to walk away with anything from this match.
