# Aston Villa boss Bruce “fears the worst” over Kodjia injury

Aston Villa manager Steve Bruce has revealed that the club “fear the worst” over Jonathan Kodjia’s injury after he hurt his ankle during international duty with Ivory Coast, according to a report on [Sky Sports](https://www.skysports.com/football/news/11677/11129801/aston-villa-fear-the-worst-over-jonathan-kodjia-injury).

The championship club have received a huge blow as Kodjia’s goalscoring ability would help them to push for promotion to the Premier League this season.

The striker broke his ankle earlier in the year but following his recovery, he hurt the same ankle in last month’s Midlands derby against Birmingham City and was forced to leave the pitch.

The 28-year-old striker, who has failed to hit the heights of goalscoring form as he did last season, has been confirmed as unavailable for this weekend’s clash against Queens Park Rangers as he is set to travel to France to see an ankle specialist.

> He needs to see a specialist. It doesn’t look good and we fear the worst. We know it isn’t great, that’s for sure.

The forward has managed to find the back of the net only once this season, whereas he was prolific last season, scoring 19 times for the club.

He will be hoping to focus on recovery for the time being and Bruce will need him back as soon as possible.
