Aston Villa’s participation in this year’s FA Cup lasted all of one game as an experimental side were downed 3-1 by League One side Peterborough at Villa Park.

Bruce made a whopping ten changes to the side that demolished Bristol City last weekend, which was probably one of the main reasons for the team’s disjointed performance.

Keinan Davis put Villa ahead in the seventh minute and, at that point, it seemed like it could be a long afternoon for the visitors. However, the goal spurred them on and they ran Villa’s second-string team ragged for the rest of the game.

The only reason they didn’t equalize sooner than the 75th minute was due to some fine goalkeeping by Steer in the Villa goal. He made four impressive saves in the first half and a couple more in the second.

However, once Peterborough drew level, the floodgates opened and Villa conceded twice more.
