Aston Villa made it five wins from their last five matches thanks to a 90th minute goal against Sheffield United on Tuesday night.

If truth be told, it wasn’t the best performance from Villa and if it weren’t for Sam Johnstone in the Villa goal, the Blades would have been well out of sight before Snodgrass curled in a beauty from 20 yards with just minutes remaining.

Throughout the match, Johnstone made no fewer than six important saves. With each passing game his value is increasing, and if Villa don’t get promoted this year, it’s difficult to see him playing another season at Villa Park.

This win moves Villa up to third in the table, just one point behind Derby in second, who failed to pick up a win away to Millwall.

Villa play Burton Albion, who currently prop up the table, on Saturday afternoon, so Bruce and his men will be quietly confident of putting more pressure on the Rams and moving up into that coveted automatic promotion spot.
