Aston Villa made it seven wins from their last seven matches thanks to a relatively comfortable 2-0 win over fierce local rivals Birmingham City at Villa Park.

For the first twenty minutes of the match, there was only one team in it and that was the home side. For the last fifteen minutes of the half, Birmingham grew into the game and the best chance of the half fell to Sam Gallagher, who capitalized on a Terry slip, but saw his shot hit the post before he put the rebound over the bar.

The Blues haven’t scored at Villa Park since 2008 and that was their only chance to change that stat as Villa came out all guns blazing in the second half and didn’t give their opponents a sniff.

On the hour mark, Villa got the lead that they deserved thanks to Adomah’s 14th goal of the season. Twenty minutes later, Hourihane put the game to bed with a rasping volley from 20 yards.
