Aston Villa came from behind twice to claim a 4-2 victory over Sheffield Wednesday at Hillsborough on Saturday afternoon.

The hosts started brightly and they took the lead in the 14th minute when Sean Clare tucked home Atdhe Nuhiu’s neat lay-off. However, Villa equalized just 7 minutes later when Lewis Grabban poked the ball home from 2 yards.

It looked like the two teams would go in level at the break, but Lucas Joao’s header found the back of the net well into injury time.

Villa were the better side in the second half and they equalized in the 67th minute thanks to Glenn Whelan. Villa sensed blood now, so they pushed for the winner and it finally came in the 87th minute when Conor Hourihane’s fierce shot found the back of the net.

The away side added some gloss to the scoreline in the 93rd minute when Snodgrass won a penalty and converted it himself.

This win moved Villa to just one point from automatic promotion, but Cardiff have the opportunity to extend that back to four points when they take on Bristol City tomorrow afternoon.
