Aston Villa picked up a comfortable three points on Tuesday evening as they dispatched Sunderland 3-0 at the Stadium of Light.
However, due to the fact that Cardiff City also won, Villa still sit in third place in the table – 4 points behind second and 1 point above Fulham in fourth. With just 11 games remaining (10 for others), things are going to go right down to the wire.
Next up for Villa is a tricky home match against league leaders Wolves on Saturday evening. Wolves have been the best team in the league this season and are currently 6 points ahead of the chasing pack (10 points ahead of Villa).
Villa played poorly the last time these two sides met and they will know that a repeat performance is likely to lead to another comfortable win for the visitors.
Here is our predicted Villa XI for Saturday’s match against Wolves:
GK: Sam Johnstone
Villa’s No. 1 and will definitely be starting.
RB: Ahmed Elmohamady
It’s a toss up between Tuanzebe and Elmohamady, and since it’s such an important game, we reckon Bruce will go for the Egyptian’s experience.
CB: John Terry
As one of the best defenders in the league, there’s no way he won’t be starting on Saturday evening.
CB: James Chester
If Villa are to get a positive result from this match, they’ll need Chester to continue his fine partnership with Terry.
LB: Neil Taylor
With Alan Hutton still out injured, Taylor will retain his place at left-back.
RM: Robert Snodgrass - 7.
Snodgrass has been in fine form lately and there’s no way he will miss out on this one.
CM: Mile Jedinak
Whelan went off injured on Tuesday and it’s highly unlikely he will be fit to play. Therefore, we expect to see Jedinak starting.
CM: Conor Hourihane
Villa will need Hourihane’s creativity to unlock the joint best defence in the league.
CM: Jack Grealish
Came on as a sub against Sunderland and caused them many problems. With the form he is in at the moment, he just has to start.
LM: Albert Adomah
When he’s fit, he plays, it’s as simple as that.
ST: Lewis Grabban
Has scored three goals in as many games and we expect to see him start up front on Saturday evening.
