After Saturday’s boring 0-0 draw against Hull, not even the most optimistic of Villa fans will think that they might still be in with a chance of clinching the final automatic promotion spot.
Since the 4-1 demolition of Wolves, Villa have only picked up one point from three matches and this has left them 9 points behind Cardiff City in second place. With just seven games remaining, Villa will need a miracle to overtake Cardiff.
Next up for Villa is a home match against Reading, who are currently sitting just five points above the relegation zone. The Royals have only won five away games the whole season, so it’s a game that the Villa fans will be expecting their team to win.
Fail to do so, and there might just be a few boos ring out around Villa park come the end of the match.
