With three games of the Championship season remaining, Aston Villa still have a chance of gaining automatic promotion to the Premier League.
The Villans are in a three-way battle for second spot with Cardiff City and Fulham, after Wolves were promoted last weekend thanks to Fulham only gaining a point at West London rivals Brentford.
Although the lottery of the play-offs looks more likely, Steve Bruce’s men can be proud of their season to date.
Granted, the Birmingham based club do have one of the biggest budgets in the division due to parachute payments and the wealth of owner Dr. Tony Xia, but everyone knows the Championship is a long, hard slog with everybody capable of beating everybody.
Should they make it to English football’s top table, Villa’s squad will need improving if they are able to mount a credible campaign in the top flight.
