# Parma eye Bjarnason move

Serie A new boys Parma are considering a move for Aston Villa midfielder Birkir Bjarnason.

According to reports in Italy from [Tuttosport](https://www.tuttosport.com/news/calcio/calciomercato/2018/06/18-44330698/calciomercato_parma_mondiale_tentazione_bjarnason/?cookieAccept), the Italian side are looking to strengthen over the summer to avoid an immediate return to Serie B.

Bjarnason is one of many senior players expected to leave Villa Park this summer in a bid to balance the books, following the likes of Jack Grealish and James Chester who are also being tipped to depart.

The player is currently with Iceland at the World Cup in Russia, which may delay any potential move.

Bjarnason has often been linked with moves away from Villa after struggling to hold down a place in Steve Bruce’s plans.

He started just 11 games last season and may find game time easier to come by at Parma.

The versatility of the midfielder often meant Bruce was simply unable to find a place for the player who scored three times last season.
