# Henry agrees to takeover at Aston Villa

Thierry Henry has reportedly ‘verbally agreed’ to take over at Aston Villa this summer, providing he gets the right assurances from the club’s new owners.

[According to the Daily Star](https://www.dailystar.co.uk/sport/football/718404/Thierry-Henry-Arsenal-Aston-Villa-manager-Steve-Bruce-Championship), Nassef Sawiris and Wes Edens have earmarked the Belgium number two as the man to take the club back to the top flight.

Following a summer of speculation about the club’s finances, Henry is seeking assurances that there will be money to spend.

Henry has never hidden his intention to go into management and is now ready to take his first job after his efforts at the World Cup.

The former Arsenal striker worked alongside Roberto Martinez and helped Belgium finish third in the tournament.

Despite being a popular figure at the club, Steve Bruce is seeing doubts raised about his future at Villa Park, with the new majority shareholders looking to bring in their own personnel to push for promotion this season.
