Aston Villa kick off their Carabao Cup campaign on Tuesday night with a game against Yeovil Town at Huish Park.
Villa have got off to a very decent start in the Championship with two wins from their opening two fixtures, but as there is another league match on Saturday against Ipswich at Portman Road, Bruce is expected to make a number of changes to the starting XI for this cup game.
Despite these expected changes, a mixture of youth and experience should be more than enough for Villa to see off a club that sits two divisions below them. This is a great chance for some fringe players to show Bruce what they are capable of.
If all goes to plan, Villa should be in the hat for the second round draw thanks to a comfortable win.
Here’s our predicted Villa XI for tomorrow night’s match against Yeovil (kick-off 7.45).
GK: Andre Moreira
With Nyland holding the number 1 shirt at the moment, it looks like Moreira will be Villa’s cup keeper.
RB: Axel Tuanzebe
Had a very average game against Wigan on Saturday, but we reckon Bruce will stick with him so that Elmohamady can play on Saturday.
CB: James Chester
Started this season how he finished last season, and Bruce knows that he is fit enough to play every game.
CB: Tommy Elphick
Sat out of the game against Wigan on Saturday, so we think he will be given a starting position tomorrow night.
LB: Neil Taylor
We think that Hutton will be given a rest and that Taylor will start tomorrow.
RM: Albert Adomah
Adomah was an unused substitute in the win against Wigan, so we expect him to be reinstated into the starting XI tomorrow.
CM: Conor Hourihane
Hourihane didn’t take part in the win over Wigan, so we see him being given the nod for this cup tie.
CM: John McGinn
McGinn was man of the match on Saturday, and we reckon he will be rewarded with another start tomorrow.
CM: Glenn Whelan
Whelan also sat out of the match against Wigan, so we see Bruce given him a starting position as well.
LM: Andre Green
Green is one of Villa’s most exciting young prospects and we’ll be surprised if he doesn’t start tomorrow night.
ST: Jonathan Kodjia
Kodjia hasn’t been that good in the opening two matches, but we think Bruce will start him again with the hope that he can get his season off and running with a few goals.
