Aston Villa failed to make it 4 wins from their opening 4 games thanks to an uninspiring 1-1 draw away to Ipswich.
If we’re being perfectly honest with ourselves, it was a very average display by Villa. The home side played more than half the match with a man down when Tayo Edun was sent off for two bookable offences in the 39th minute, but, at times, you’d be forgiven for thinking that it was Villa who were playing with a man short.
Jonathan Kodjia had opened the scoring in the 21st minute when he converted John McGinn’s cross, but the lead only lasted 15 minutes as the curse of the Villa goalkeeper struck again. Orjan Nyland came to collect a long throw-in, but he fumbled it, which allowed Trevor Chalobah to stab home.
Villa had a lot of the possession after the break, but they just could not find that second goal which would have given them all three points.
