# Aston Villa complete the loan signing of Anwar El Ghazi

Aston Villa have announced on their [official website](https://www.avfc.co.uk/News/2018/08/22/transfer-news-anwar-el-ghazi-joins) that the club has completed the signing of Anwar El Ghazi on a season-long loan from Ligue 1 side Lille.

The 23-year-old, who has been capped twice by the Netherlands, is out of favour at Lille, so he was keen on finding another club that will offer him plenty of first team opportunities.

Leeds were also interested in acquiring his services, but he decided that a move to Villa Park would be the best option for him. It is thought that Villa will have the option of signing him permanently.

In his first interview as a Villa player, El Ghazi said:

> “I am thrilled to join a football club of the size of Aston Villa.I visited Villa Park late last night after flying in from Holland and it gave me goosebumps. I can’t wait to get out there and experience it for real and play in front of such passionate fans.”
