# Aston Villa make a move to sign young French Defender

According to [Inside Futbol](https://www.insidefutbol.com/2018/08/28/bid-in-aston-villa-move-for-france-u20-star-but-face-ligue-1-opposition/388075/), Aston Villa are interested in signing 20-year-old centre-back Harold Moukoudi from Ligue 2 side Le Havre.

At the moment, clubs can only sign players on loan, however a clause can be inserted into the contract meaning that Villa could buy him permanently in the January Transfer Window.

If reports are to be believed, Villa have supposedly offered Le Havre €9 million for their highly-rated defender and are prepared to offer him a 4-year contract.

The youngster has just one year left on his current contract, but Villa face stiff competition from Ligue 1 side Rennes, who have been interested in acquiring the talented defender’s services for weeks now.

At the moment, it seems like the ball is firmly in Rennes’ court as it’s believed that Moukoudi would like to stay in France to continue his development, so Bruce will have to work some magic to persuade him to join Villa.
