# Villa interested in Crystal Palace left-back

According to a report in the [Birmingham Mail](https://www.birminghammail.co.uk/sport/football/transfer-news/aston-villa-been-linked-premier-15093778), Aston Villa are interested in signing left-back Pape Souare on loan from Premier League side Crystal Palace.

Villa are light at left-back at the moment and Bruce currently plays right-back Alan Hutton there. To be fair to the Scot, he has done a very good job and deserves to keep his place, but if he were to pick up a lengthy injury or a lengthy suspension then the only option left is Neil Taylor, and he is out of form and favour.

Bruce was close to signing Joe Bryan from Bristol City earlier this month, but, to Bruce’s dismay, after he had passed his medical he changed his mind and joined Fulham instead.

The 28-year-old Senegal international was involved in a bad traffic accident in September 2016, and he suffered some serious leg injuries. Since then, he has found it hard to get game time at Palace, making just 5 appearance for the club.
