# Villa identify Andrea Stramaccioni as possible Bruce replacement

Andrea Stramaccioni as a surprise contender to replace Steve Bruce at Aston Villa, amid uncertainty about his position at the club.

[Reports in Italy claim](https://www.football-italia.net/128496/stramaccioni-aston-villa) that the former Inter boss is believed to be on their radar with the new Villa owners looking to make a high-profile appointment.

Stramaccioni is known for his mixed time at the San Siro. He impressed while in charge of the club’s youth teams and was given the opportunity to lead the senior squad.

However, he was unable to replicate his success and was sacked during his first season in charge.

He has since had unsuccessful stints at Panathinaikos and Sparta Prague, as well as a period in charge of Udinese.

Bruce is under pressure to pick up some results after failing to impress those behind the scenes at Villa Park following the club’s takeover.

Naseef Sawiris and Wes Edens came close to hiring Thierry Henry this summer, which is a clear sign that they want to put their own stamp on the club.
