# Jack Grealish reveals disappointment over failed Spurs move

Aston Villa star Jack Grealish has admitted his disappointment after failing to secure a move to Premier League side Tottenham Hotspur during the summer transfer window, according to a report on [Sky Sports](https://www.skysports.com/football/news/11095/11510848/jack-grealish-admits-disappointment-over-failed-tottenham-transfer).

Grealish was heavily linked with a move to north London and was eager to make the step up from the Championship to the Premier League, but the move fell through.

The Villa playmaker signed a new long-term deal with the club earlier this week and seems happy with the way things are going for him at the club at the moment, but he still has some regret over his failed move to Spurs.

The attacking midfielder said:

> Of course, there’s going to be disappointment there. They’ve beaten Manchester United 3-0 at Old Trafford, they’re playing Barcelona in the Champions League next week.

> I felt that if I’d gone there I could have maybe been in the England squad by the end of the year. At the start of the season, my head was swivelled, it was all over the place. Even after the transfer window closed, until the end of August, I wasn’t right.

> I thought I was leaving. Before the new owners, Villa needed the money so I kind of accepted that me going would save the club.

> It’s not like I was devastated it didn’t happen, though, because I’ve still got to realise how lucky I am to be playing for my boyhood club. I’ve played over 100 games for Villa and I’ve only just turned 23.

Spurs made a £25m bid during the summer but ultimately, Villa’s new owners blocked Grealish’s move away from Villa Park.

The 23-year-old is now focused on trying to help Villa to earn promotion to the Premier League.
