# Villa not interested in Brentford’s Dean Smith

Aston Villa are reportedly not interested in hiring Brentford’s Dean Smith, should Steve Bruce leave the club in the near future.

[Birmingham Live report](https://www.birminghammail.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/aston-villa-news-steve-bruce-15220362) that Smith is not on the club’s radar amid increasing speculation about the immediate future of Bruce.

It had been suggested that Smith could be the man to take over from Bruce, but the club are not considering any potential replacements at this minute, according to the report.

Smith has been heavily linked with a move away from Brentford, with the Bees impressing in the Championship.

As one of the more highly-rated managers in the Championship, Smith’s side have been known to play exciting and attacking football.

With the likes of Ollie Watkins and Neal Maupay in attack, the club rank among one of the top scorers in the division.

Brentford currently sit sixth in the Championship, four points behind leaders Leeds and two points above Aston Villa, who are down in 15th position.
