Aston Villa look set to confirm the appointment of former Manchester United assistant Rui Faria as their new manager, with John Terry joining him as his number two.
The pair are on the verge of signing for Villa after Steve Bruce was sacked earlier this month after a poor start to the Championship season.
Faria and Terry have worked/played alongside many top players over the years and have great relationships with those at Manchester United and Chelsea.
Villa already have one player from each side on loan, which means they can only sign one more from either club.
With that in mind, here are some players from those two clubs who Villa could target in January…
Angel Gomes
Gomes has made two first-team appearances at Old Trafford and is an England under-19 international. Villa could give him his first taste of regular first-team football.
Lucas Piazon
Piazon showed he can make it in the Championship with Fulham last season and could prove to be an astute signing for Villa in the next transfer window.
Matthew Olosunde
The American international defender has impressed in the youth ranks and could now look to make the step up to play at senior level in the Championship, with Villa in desperate need for a central defender.
Marco Van Ginkel
Although a slightly ambitous one, Villa could move for Van Ginkel, who was on loan at PSV last season but currently in the Chelsea reserves.
Ethan Ampadu
Ampdau is able to play as a central defender or in holding midfield, which would make him a vital asset to Villa’s squad. The youngster is already a full Wales international at the age of 18.
Callum Hudson-Odoi
The 17-year-old has already made five first-team appearances for Chelsea and could look for a loan move to add to his experience.
