Villa player ratings: Derby (A)

Dean Smith’s Villa side gave the other Championship teams something to think about on Saturday afternoon as they beat Derby 3-0 at Pride Park.

Frank Lampard’s men were unbeaten in their last 7 matches, so not even the most optimistic of Villa fans would have expected their team to walk away with such an emphatic victory.

Villa were the better team for the majority of the match, but they just couldn’t find the opening goal. However, when it finally came in the 74th minute courtesy of John Mcginn, the floodgates opened with two more goals coming in the next ten minutes.

Derby had their chances to get on the scoresheet, but they found Nyland in great form – he produced two fantastic saves at the end of the first-half to deny Jack Marriott and Harry Wilson.

Next up for Smith’s men is the Second City Derby on the 25th November. Three or four weeks ago, Birmingham fans would have seen this match as a great opportunity to get one over on their local rivals, but they won’t be feeling as confident now, that’s for sure!

Here are our player ratings for tonight’s great win against Derby.
