Aston Villa and Nottingham Forest scored five goals apiece as they shared the points in a ten goal thriller at Villa Park.
The game got off to the worst possible start for the home side as they found themselves two goals down with just six minutes on the clock. However, Dean Smith has instilled in his men a never-say-die attitude and by the time the clock struck 15 minutues, they were back on level terms thanks to two goals from Tammy Abraham.
However, they fell behind again just 7 minutes later when Matty Cash got his name on the scoresheet in the 22nd minute. Both teams had seemingly forgotten how to defend and Abraham completed his hattrick from the penalty spot in the 36th minute.
The craziness carried on into the second half and Villa found themselves behind once more in the 51st minute. To their credit though, Villa put their heads down and Abraham made it 4-4 in the 71st after Pereira Figueiredo had been sent off for a bad foul on John McGinn.
Unbelievably, the goals kept coming and Anwar El Ghazi found the top of the net from the edge of the box in the 75th minute. Unfortunately though, Nyland’s lack of talent came back to hurt Smith’s men and he was beaten at his near post by Lewis Grabban in the 82nd minute to make the score 5-5.
Villa thought they had won it late on, but the linesman’s flag spoiled the party.
