Villa were cheated out of two vital points against West Brom at The Hawthorns on Friday evening when the ref and the linesman somehow failed to see that Jay Rodriguez handled the ball on his way to scoring the equaliser in the 91st minute.
Dean Smith’s men were the better team and probably should have been out of sight before the equaliser arrived, but you cannot ignore the fact that the officials have cost Villa vital points yet again.
If it gets to the end of the season and Villa lose out on automatic promotion or a play-off position by just two points, they’ll look back on this game with even more anger.
However, despite the result, it was another very encouraging performance from Smith’s men, and if El Ghazi, who chipped in with another two goals, keeps playing like he is, he will become a new fan favourite.
Now, Dean Smith’s men will head to the training ground to prepare for another tough game against Stoke next weekend, while Darren England and his officials should probably head on down to Specsavers.
