# Villa make inquiry about Leicester left-back

According to a recent report in the [Mirror](https://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/football/transfer-news/aston-villa-make-transfer-move-13817568), Aston Villa have contacted Leicester City about signing Christian Fuchs on loan for the rest of the season.

The 32-year-old former Austrian international has found game time hard to come by at the King Power Stadium due to Ben Chilwell’s spectacular form and subsequent rise to England international.

Dean Smith’s aim is to get Villa promoted to the Premier League this season, but if he is going to achieve this, then he is going to have to make a number of shrewd defensive signings this month as they are conceding soft goals at an alarming rate.

Neil Taylor is Villa’s only senior left-back and he has, to be perfectly honest, been woeful this season. Therefore, signing a player like Fuchs for the rest of the campaign could go a long way to sealing promotion back to the top flight of English football.

However, his wages could be a stumbling block. It is believed that he is earning around 60k a week at Leicester, and Villa would likely have to pay all of it if a deal was to go ahead.
