# Aston Villa interested in Aberdeen defender Scott McKenna

Aston Villa are still in the hunt to sign Aberdeen defender Scott McKenna.

That’s according to the *[Daily Record](https://www.dailyrecord.co.uk/sport/football/football-transfer-news/who-who-isnt-celtics-transfer-13861278)*, who believe Villa could battle Celtic for his signature.

Aberdeen are confident of earning £10million for the sale of McKenna, but a January transfer appears to be out of the question.

The report states that the Dons will only consider doing business this month if they can agree to loan the 22-year-old back for the rest of the season.

McKenna originally caught the eye of Steve Bruce during his time at Villa Park last summer, but a move never came to fruition.

Dean Smith is also an admirer, however, even though Kortney Hause has already been brought in at the back.

A deal for McKenna looks like a possibility this summer, which would be an exciting piece of business.

The youngster has won eight caps for Scotland, making his debut in a 1-0 defeat to Costa Rica in March 2018.
