# Bruce finally opens up about Villa sacking

Steve Bruce, who was sacked as Aston Villa boss back in October, has finally offered his thoughts on his sacking.

The 58-year-old former United defender, who had a very difficult 2018 due to the passing of his parents, did not release an official statement when he was released from his duties and replaced by Dean Smith.

Now he has revealed that he asked himself two big questions.

According to the [Birmingham Mail](https://www.birminghammail.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/steve-bruce-finally-breaks-silence-15732787), in an interview with BBC Football Daily, Bruce said that:

> I needed a break. Sometimes you look at yourself and say to yourself ‘What have I done wrong?’ You get the sack and it hurts you, but you dust yourself down, take a bit of time and thankfully Sheffield Wednesday have given me this great opportunity and a great offer and I can’t wait to get started next week.
>
> I thought long and hard about whether I want to do it again, but a phone call was made and before I know it I’m back on the wagon again.

Bruce’s Sheffield Wednesday team will take on Villa at Hillsborough at the start of April, and he will be hoping to see a similar scoreline to when his Villa side took on the Owls at Villa Park – a 2-1 win.
