# Villa close to finalising loan deal for Bournemouth defender

According to the Daily Mail’s [live transfer blog](https://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-6643117/TRANSFER-NEWS-LIVE-latest-deals-Premier-League-Europe-ahead-deadline-day.html), Aston Villa are set to win the battle for Bournemouth defender Tyrone Mings and could even have a deal finalised by the end of the day.

The 25-year-old, who can play as a left-back or a centre-back, has only started two games for Bournemouth in the Premier League this season, so the club has decided that it is best for both of them if he is sent out on loan for the rest of the season.

Villa’s local rivals West Brom were also interested in acquiring his services for the remaining 17 games of the season, but, if the reports are to be believed, it seems that Mings has decided that Villa Park is the best option for him.

This would be a great signing for Dean Smith as it would mean that he doesn’t have to keep playing Neil Taylor at left-back just because he has no other real options.
