Aston Villa have been enjoying a great deal of success with Tammy Abraham up front this year.
The target man loves the Championship dearly, and has 21 goals so far this term.
Sadly, he is of course only at Villa Park on a temporary basis. Dean Smith will therefore have to start thinking about some possible candidates come the summer transfer window.
Since you’re definitely reading Dean, here are some ideas!
1) Tammy Abraham - Chelsea
Fancy seeing you here! Tammy is on his third loan club now, and the 21-year-old would presumably be coveted by numerous English outfits, both in the top and second tier. Villa hold that trump card of familiarity though – and if they can gain promotion, the prospect of signing on a permanent basis would only be all the more attractive.
2) Luuk de Jong - PSV Eindhoven
Luuk de Jong has become something of a legend at PSV, and the 28-year-old is now in his fifth year at the club. An experienced, proven goalscorer, the Dutchman could also sit at the top of the formation in a similar role to that of Abraham, given his favourable stature.
3) Alfred Finnbogason - Augsburg
Finnbogason has netted ten times for the Bundesliga side so far this season, and is an international teammate of the Icelandic midfielder Birkir Bjarnason. The 30-year-old is proven in front of goal, and could be a cheaper option for Smith.
4) Sardar Azmoun - Zenit St Petersburg
The 24-year-old Iranian has been making waves in the Russian Premier League, Azmoun could be a name you’re familiar with by the end of the summer. Three goals in the Europa League announced him on the European stage this season, and a newly promoted Villa might be the perfect destination for the front-man.
5) Olivier Giroud - Chelsea
Stay with me here – if Chelsea decide they want to use Tammy Abraham next year, then Olivier Giroud will almost certainly be available to sign. What better way to stay up in the Premier League than to add a man with a track record of scoring goals in the division.
